What working here looks like
John F Marshall has been active since 2009, with a Gauteng head office and project work in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal. We support laying-hen cages, incubators, brooders, feeders, drinkers and abattoir equipment, so the work is hands-on and often tied to real farm or processing deadlines.
People who do well here are practical, steady under pressure and comfortable speaking to farmers, contractors and plant teams. Some days are in the office, other days are on site checking house layouts, helping with commissioning or sorting out a delivery before the next load-shedding window closes. Attention to detail matters, because a small miss can hold up a whole project.
Roles we usually hire for
We do not keep a fixed vacancy list here. Instead, we build a team around the work we do most often. Depending on business needs, we may look for people with experience in project support, technical sales, field service, procurement, training or operations.
- Technical sales and product support for poultry and processing equipment
- Installation supervision and commissioning support on farms and abattoirs
- Service, maintenance and spares coordination
- Procurement, stock control and supplier follow up
- Training, operator handover and customer support
Skills that help you fit in
Formal qualifications help, but practical know-how counts too. If you have worked with farm equipment, mechanical fittings, electrical systems, layout drawings or processing room fitouts, tell us. We also value people who can write a clear email, keep records tidy and manage their time without constant reminders.
- Good communication in English, with more than one South African language a plus
- Willingness to travel for site visits and project work
- Basic measuring, quoting and job card skills
- Comfortable working around live production environments
Where the work takes place
Our base is in Jet Park, Boksburg, and much of the work starts there before moving out to customer sites. Some roles are office based, others are more mobile and may involve early starts, farm access protocols, dust, heat and long drives between towns. In coastal areas, equipment handling and storage need extra care because humidity can affect stock and electrical parts.
If you are joining the service or projects side, you should be ready for practical site conditions. That can include working around existing sheds, checking house spacing, measuring floor levels, or coordinating with contractors who are already on site.
How to send your CV

- Attach your CV in PDF or Word format

A place for people who finish the job
We value people who take ownership, keep customers informed and see things through after installation. Whether the task is a brooder setup, feeder changeout, maintenance planning or a processing room upgrade, the aim is the same: get the job done properly and keep the customer moving.
If that sounds like your kind of working environment, send your CV and tell us where you can add value. We review enquiries as openings come up, and we keep details on file for suitable future roles. That simple step has helped us find good people before, and it still does.
